Youth Stars Player/Staff Highlight

(James Swint)

James Swint is the creator of BARS.  A native of Nassau County, raised in Downtown Brooklyn, He is well-rooted in the sport of basketball. He’s been around basketball for four decades; As a player, Coach and Basketball League Director, he is a mentor of the sport and a pillar of his community.  He serves his community in various capacities; He sits at the Board as a Board Member for Youth Stars Inc. He also contributes his time at Hoop Connection during the summers, both nonprofit organizations, dedicated to our youth, and their well-being. For four years, he also served as an advisor and coach for C.Y.O. (Catholic Youth Organization). Serving the public is James’s vocation.  James is altruistic and a Philanthropist, with his generosity being felt and having an impact in the community. He is also a businessman, but foremost.... he is religious and a family man. He is the Founder of Flash Extermination, a successful exterminating business that extends to all five boroughs of New York City. His customers always come first, and this is the main reason why he is still in business. James was always organized and works best with structure...hence, the creation of BARS! The basis of BARS is to keep the statistics of a basketball game in one book, while recording all necessary stats that usually get recorded separately. Statistics like; blocks, assists, rebounds and steals. So, enjoy record keeping with BARS!

(Justin Bermudez)

He’s usually the shortest player on the court. He is calm, has great court vision and always has an impact in the game. Justin is a prodigy of Youth Stars; attending all of youth stars’ basketball camps, clinics, and instructional programs. Justin has always had a passion for basketball. He has been a part of Youth Stars since he was able to shoot a basketball (2nd Grade). He is like family! Justin is a prolific scorer and unstoppable when he is on! He has great shooting range and definitively not afraid of contact with the big boys, regardless of his stature. Youth Stars is proud to have had Justin represent our program, and wish him the very best in his basketball and academic endeavors. Justin graduated from Salve Regina Catholic Academy in East New York Brooklyn, and will be attending Nazareth high school in the fall of 2017. Justin lives to play basketball, and I know he will always be a good representation of our program.

(Daniel and David Moya-Jose)

They’re brothers, best friends, and twins!  They are identical, and on the court they are both usually referred by their coaches as simply - “twin” Daniel and David are unique in many ways.  They share more than their DNA. They attend the same school, have the same cycle of friends, and with this same sense of commonality, is how they play basketball on the court!   They play best when they are not separated.  Both have great court vision, have good ball-handling skills, and work best around the perimeter. Hands down, either one of them will stand out producing a defensive block, a winning basket, or simply a great pass to one of their teammates.   The twins have been playing for nearly 5 years and have progressed every year. I have had the privilege of seeing their basketball IQ progress, but most importantly seeing them grow up to be young responsible adults.  They have represented Youth Stars since 2015. Attending leagues like: IBL, Bridging the Gap, St. Stan’s Summer League just to name a few.  They have also attended basketball clinics and basketball camps hosted by Youth Stars.  Youth Stars is proud to have had Daniel and David represent our program, and wish them the very best in their basketball and academic endeavors. Daniel and David graduated from Salve Regina Catholic Academy in East New York Brooklyn this past June, and will be attending Nazareth High School in the fall of 2017.
